Flipside Purposes

We believe the purpose of Flipside is to fulfill God's purpose in the world.  In Matthew 22 and 28 Jesus told us God's purpose was to

Win people to Jesus,

  Welcome them to God's Family, equip them to

    Work in ministry and

      Walk in maturity as we

        Worship God with our lives.

These are the purposes of evangelism, fellowship, ministry, discipleship, and worship.  These are the 5 purposes we practice and seek to fulfill in everything we do.  We believe that rather than moving systematically from one purpose to another, the Christian faith is really lived in a free flow between them all.  People don't always begin in the same "purpose area" nor do they move from one to another sequencially.  Many times multiple purposes are being accopmlished at the same time.  Because of this free flow of fulfilling God's purposes, we choose to understand a more fluid picture of the ongoing nature of being a Christ follower.  Our understanding of this is best seen in this picture. 

The two greatest things we can do in this life is to Love God and Love Others (worship and ministry).  In the context of loving God, we grow in maturity (discipleship).  In the context of loving others we spend time with and do life with each other (fellowship).  As we move freely in and around those purposes, evangelism happens.

One may begin loving other people and serving them (minsitry), spending time with others (fellowship), and in the process come to faith, or lead others to faith (evangelism).  As they stay in the flow they begin loving God more (worship) and growing in maturty (discipleship).

This is why we exist and this is what we practice.
